OMEGA-3- FATTY ACIDS
Omega-3-fatty acids are essential unsaturated fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are molecules that cannot be created by the human body but are vital for normal metabolism. Nutritionally important Omega-3-fatty acids include α-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) all of which are polyunsaturated. The most widely available dietary sources of EPA & DHA are cold water oily fish such as salmon, sardines in addition to a variety of other sources.
The essential fatty acids were given their name when researchers found that they are essential to normal growth in young children and animals.
